Job summary

Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute is seeking a Medical Assistant II to support physicians in an office setting. The role includes phlebotomy, lab testing, quality control, and maintenance of equipment. Access to Groshong and Mediport systems requires RN-certified competency and annual recertification.

The position operates Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm at our Pensacola clinic, with responsibilities including specimen handling and patient care under supervision.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a medical assistant in a clinic or physician’s office.
• Ability to perform venipunctures and phlebotomy procedures.
• BLS certification required upon hire or obtained within 30 days.
• Certification to access Groshong and Mediport after RN verification.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist physicians with medical procedures in office. Responsible for phlebotomy, laboratory testing, quality control, instrument troubleshooting, equipment maintenance and all other duties of Medical Assistant. At level II the Medical Assistant will be responsible for accessing Groshong and Mediports after being certified by a RN. Medical Assistant II will need to be recertified annually for this higher position.

QUALIFICATIONS

At least two years of experience as medical assistant in a clinic or physician’s office with the ability to perform venipunctures. At least 12 months of Company employment as a Medical Assistant. Completion of training and testing by a Company Nurse to verify the MA is competent to access ports. Head Nurse must certify the MA’s competence once a year. High school diploma or GED is required. BLS required upon hire or must be obtained within 30 days of employment (FCS will provide BLS course within first 30 days).
