Job summary

Unio Health Partners is seeking a Medical Assistant II to support patient care across its California network. The role involves patient room turnover, vitals, intake documentation, and assistance with procedures, ensuring a professional and efficient environment.

Ideal candidates have 4-5 years of healthcare experience with EMR proficiency, HS diploma or GED, and may be bilingual. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is expected and some positions may require travel between UNIO locations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain smooth turnover of patient rooms and daily schedule flow.
  • Provide patient care: taking vitals, documenting intake forms, assist with follow up care.
  • Prepare and maintain instruments and equipment; ensure sterility and cleaning.
  • Submit prior authorizations for medications, procedures and labs.
  • EMR preparation: upload labs, reports, and authorizations for upcoming appointments.
  • Support front office duties: scheduling, phones, emails, and voicemails.
  • Train new Medical Assistants and externs in duties and procedures.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Medical Assistant II is responsible for patient care delivery by working cooperatively with all staff members in planning, performing, assisting with procedures, appointments, patient relations, follow up care, and other tasks as requested by a physician. The Medical Assistant II adheres to all standards of healthcare to provide a professional, comfortable, and efficient work environment for patients, physicians, and staff members.

What you will be doing
  • Ensureefficient turnover of patient rooms andmaintaintimelydaily schedule flow.
  • Provide patient care: taking vitals, documenting intake forms (this may include portalassistance), medical history, explain procedure instructions,assistwithfollow upcare instructions as needed.
  • Maintain Instruments and Equipment: sterilized,disinfect,autoclaved,and follow proper equipment cleaning and storage per item specifications.
  • Submit prior authorizations for ordered medications,procedures,and labs.
  • Daily preparation of EMR: Retrieve anduploading oflabs, diagnostic studies,post opreports, authorizations, and any documentation necessary for patient upcoming appointments. Confirm medication/s or supplies are in stock prior to patient appointments.
  • Supportfront officecoordinatordutieswhen necessary: appointment scheduling, answering phones, retrieving,andresponding tovoicemails and electronic correspondences.
  • Train new Medical Assistants and Externs in duties andprocedures asassigned.
What you will bring to the team
  • Phlebotomy Certificate is a plus
  • High school diploma or GED certificaterequired.
  • Bilingual-Spanish is a plus.
  • 4-5years of healthcare experience required including Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system experience.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills preferred (languages may vary by location based on patient population). Employees may be asked toassistwith patient communication or interpretation in their language(s) of fluency, asappropriate, to support patient care and operational needs.
  • Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Travel
  • Occasional travel to any of the UNIO locations may be required.
