Job summary

The Brigham and Women's Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Medical Assistant to support healthcare teams with clinical and non-clinical patient services.

You will take vital signs, document information, schedule appointments, and help manage patient flow in a fast-paced onsite setting at 315 Norwood Park South. Qualified candidates have a High School Diploma or equivalent (Associates preferred) and MA certification preferred; BLS may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Required or Associates Degree and Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
• Licenses/Certificates: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate - Preferred, Certified Medical Assistant - Preferred.
• Work Experience: Direct MA experience or medical field work 0-1 years.

Responsibilities

• Assists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities and helps with on-boarding training.
• Show patients to examination rooms and prepares equipment, interview patients, measure vital signs, and record in medical records.
• Explain procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions; order and organize educational materials.
• Perform general office duties, answer phones, take dictation, and complete insurance forms; liaise with departments and advocate for patients.
• Collect blood, tissue, or other specimens, log them, and prepare for testing; perform phlebotomy if competent.
• Maintain inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates; provide immunizations as applicable.
• Improve departmental quality initiatives and follow policies including hand hygiene and patient identifiers.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
