Job summary

Unicare Community Health Center is seeking a Medical Assistant I to support the clinic team and maintain efficient patient flow. The MA works with physicians, NP/PA staff, and other team members to provide quality, patient-centered care in a confidential setting.

The role includes patient intake, scheduling in the EHR, front desk duties, and collaboration on training and quality assurance. Excellent communication in English/Spanish is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of medical assistant training program required.
• Phlebotomy certification a plus.
• 0–2 years of outpatient medical clinic or hospital/medical office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide back-up support for the medical assistant team and all MA functions.
• Greet and direct patients for health exams and assist with intake and screening.
• Schedule and review appointments in the EHR; verify patient information and insurance.
• Perform front desk duties: call handling, check-in/out, and coordination of follow-up.
• Assist in training staff and supervise volunteers; support lab and clinical duties.
