Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle, WA is seeking a Medical Assistant I to join the General Oncology Unit. This on-site, 1.0 FTE role supports patient flow, performs clinical and clerical tasks, and assists with procedures under nursing supervision.

Requirements include WA-licensed CMA/ABHES/CAAHEP-accredited MA program, BLS, and ability to work in a fast-paced oncology setting. Comprehensive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Completion of a medical assistant program offered by ABHES/CAAHEP accredited school or military training may satisfy requirements.
• Certified Medical Assistant in WA state or Interim CMA WA and familiar with WA conduct/standards.
• Current Surgical Technologist Registration in WA within 30 days of hire, as applicable.
• BLS Health Provider Card (or equivalent) and renewal every 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Rooms patients and families to exam/procedure area.
• Documents vital signs and other patient information per clinic policy.
• Assists with procedures as directed.
• Maintains clinic flow with clerical tasks, patient transport, and room restocking.
• Recognizes symptoms and escalates to RN or provider as needed.
• Performs Blood Draws as directed.
• Acts as liaison between patients/families and health care providers.
