Job summary

The McLean Hospital Corporation is seeking a Radiology Support Assistant to assist radiology technologists and radiologists with imaging procedures and equipment preparation. You will help position patients, operate and organize imaging devices, and ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the process.

This onsite role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and offers opportunities to gain experience in a hospital setting, with eligibility for comprehensive benefits and career

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Experience in Hospital/Managed Care Setting 0-1 year preferred or Radiology Experience 0-1 year preferred.
• Knowledge of radiology terminology and basic procedures beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Greet and prepare patients for radiology procedures, explaining the imaging process and answering questions.
• Prepare and arrange radiology equipment for imaging procedures (X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound).
• Help position patients correctly to obtain clear images.
• Assist with image processing tasks and transfer to PACS.
• Transport patients safely to and from radiology.
• Maintain supplies and track contrast agents and gowns.
• Keep accurate records for medical and billing purposes.

Job Summary Responsible for assisting radiology technologists and radiologists with various tasks, ensuring the proper functioning of equipment, and providing a safe and comfortable environment for patients during imaging proceduresDoes this position require Patient Care?Yes

Essential Functions

• Greet and prepare patients for radiology procedures, explaining the imaging process and answering any questions they may have.
• Prepare and arrange radiology equipment, including X-ray machines, CT scanners, MRI machines, and ultrasound devices, for imaging procedures.
• Help position patients correctly on the imaging table or in the appropriate standing/sitting position to obtain clear and accurate images.
• Assist radiology technologists with image processing tasks, such as labeling and organizing digital images, and transferring them to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
• Assist in transporting patients to and from the radiology department, ensuring their safety and comfort during the process.
• Keep track of supplies, including contrast agents, gowns, and other necessary items in the radiology department.
• Maintain accurate records of patient procedures, ensuring that all relevant information is documented properly for medical records and billing purposes.

• The ability to pay close attention to details is crucial for accurately recording information and ensuring patient safety.
• The role may involve lifting and moving patients, as well as standing for extended periods during procedures.
