Job summary

CLS Health in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant for a multispecialty practice. The role supports care delivery by rooming patients, updating histories, taking vitals, and preparing charts.

The candidate should be bilingual, have at least two years of MA experience, and be able to travel to other CLS Health locations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and knowledge of medical terminology are a plus.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) with a recognized accreditation
• Two+ years of MA experience in a medical office or related setting
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; bilingual required
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively; strong attention to detail
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing is preferred

Responsibilities

• Room patients and take vital signs; interview chief complaints and update medical history
• Prepare and verify patient charts and benefits information
• Scan documents and distribute faxes to appropriate team members
• Assist physicians in examination and wound care as needed
• Manage referrals, authorizations, and in-network status
• Coordinate patient scheduling and follow-up appointments
• Travel to other CLS Health locations as required
• Maintain clean and stocked exam rooms and proper chart documentation

We Are Looking For

Someone who is an experienced Medical Assistant for a multispecialty medical practice. The medical assistant should perform a supportive role in delivering comprehensive care to the patient that is safe, effective, and efficient.

Responsibilities

• Rooming the patient
• Interview/update patient’s chief complaint, medical history, medication list, and take vitals.
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance and verifies benefits reports.
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance.
• Scanning documents to appropriate patient charts.
• Makes sure all rooms are stocked and clean before clinic, after each patient, and at the end of the day.
• Refill patient medications as directed by a physician and obtain Pre-Authorization/Determination for medications.
• Ensures that physician is in-network and authorized/up-to-date referral is in the patient’s chart.
• Assist the physician in the exam room with any wound care and/or procedures.
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document phone log/conversation
• Educates and informs the patient of any DI, labs, referrals, and procedures physicians might have ordered.
• Schedules patients for upcoming appointments after the physician sees the patient.
• Obtains authorization prior to sending any orders when needed.
• Main fax line– Distribute faxes to appropriate team member(s)
• Travel to other CLS Health Locations
• Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation organization or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program
• Two years+ of experience as a Medical Assistant
• Must be bilingual
• Must be willing to trave to other CLS Health locations
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred
