Medical Assistant – Family Medicine Days

$2,000 SIGN ON BONUS

Henry Ford Jackson Hematology Oncology is a fast paced, patient focused environment that strives to provide an exceptional experience every time. Attention to detail, professional communication skills, and ability to work with a variety of team members and roles are key attributes. We have 13 providers, 44 clinical team members, and 20 clerical support team members to serve our patients in our office and infusion center. Specific skills for the position E.g. - Customer service, MA certification, lab draw skills, and EPIC experience preferred.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under direct supervision of the provider and nursing leadership, the Medical Assistant performs a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to assist in the quality and compassionate care provided to patients. These duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Greeting and escorting patients to the exam room.
  • Obtaining medical histories.
  • The measurement and recording of vital signs.
  • Preparing patients for an examination/procedure.
  • Assisting the provider during the examination/procedure.

SHIFT DETAILS: The office is open Monday-Thursday from 7:00 am – 6:00 pm, Friday from 7:00 am – 5:30 pm, and Saturday from 7:30 am – 10:00 am.

LOCATION: 1100 E Michigan Ave Ste 307 Jackson, MI 49201

STATUS: Full Time, 40 hours per week

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills preferred.
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of clinical skills as related to ambulatory patient care preferred.
  • Ability to problem-solve preferred. Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills preferred.
  • EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience preferred.

Additional Requirements:

Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160 hour minimum).

OR Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five (5) years.

OR Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in clinical medical assisting.

OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

OR Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.

OR Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

Current BLS-C upon hire or successful completion by end of orientation.
