Job summary

Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, MA seeks a Medical Assistant to join the Gastroenterology team. You will greet patients, assist with examinations and procedures, collect specimens, monitor vital signs, and document in the chart.

The position emphasizes HIPAA compliance, office workflow, and team collaboration. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent; MA certification and BLS are preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Licensure/Certifications: Medical Assistant certification preferred (BLS).
• Experience: Medical office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and visitors in a professional, courteous manner at all times.
• Maintains patient confidentiality, respect and HIPAA guidelines at all times.
• Assists patients and providers preparing with examinations, minor office procedures, phlebotomy and/or specimen collection.
• Performs blood pressures, vital signs and patient assessments through triage.
• Performs ancillary testing as ordered by providers.
• Completes clear, accurate documentation within the patient medical record.
• Maintains clinical areas with supplies to function daily.
• Keeps exam rooms clean and sanitary.
• Assists with making patient appointments outside of the office.
• Assists with telephone triage and prescription refills as directed by providers.
