Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, ME is seeking a Medical Assistant to support the Gastroenterology team. The role involves assisting with patient examinations and procedures, preparing patients, and obtaining vital signs and histories to ensure smooth clinic flow.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred with MA-related training.
• Current certification: AAMA/NHA/AMT/NCCT; BLS required or obtained within 30 days of start.
• Six months MA experience or one year as a MaineHealth Clinical Team Assistant.
• Ability to document accurately and adhere to clinical safety standards.

This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position.

The Medical Assistant at MaineHealth Gastroenterology - Brunswick | MaineHealth provides both clinical and administrative support to the Gastroenterology care team to ensure efficient and high-quality patient care. This role assists providers with patient examinations and procedures, prepares patients for visits, obtains vital signs and medical histories, and supports care coordination throughout the patient experience. The Medical Assistant works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff to promote a positive patient experience while maintaining accurate documentation and adhering to clinical and safety standards.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

1. Education: High School diploma or GED preferred. Must meet one of the following requirements: Graduated from an accredited vocational institution or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience completed; or completion of an Adult Education Medical Assistant program and 6 months of clinical experience in a practice setting; or 1 year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice setting (equivalent experience will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis).
2. License/Certifications: Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, or NCCT certification required. (Prior to 5/01/25 MA IIs with 10 years MA experience and employed by MaineHealth as a MA in the most recent 5 years are exempt from certification requirement). Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date.
3. Experience: Six months of experience as a Medical Assistant or one year as a MaineHealth Clinical Team Assistant.

The pay range for this position is $21.09to $27.12 per hour.

Compensation for part-time positions isdeterminedon a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
