Primary Health Care, Inc (PHC) is seeking a Medical Assistant or Medical Assistant Trainee to support clinical care and administrative tasks at the Marshalltown clinic. The role includes rooming patients, taking vital signs, and assisting providers under supervision, with a 40-hour work week and a rotating Saturday shift.

The position offers competitive hourly wages ($17.00–$21.25 for trainees, $18.65–$23.35 for Medical Assistants) and a comprehensive benefits package, including PTO, tuition

Qualifications

• Post-secondary diploma, certificate, or Associate degree in Medical Assisting or high school diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of one year of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
• Mandatory Reporter Training for Child Abuse and Dependent Adult Abuse recognized by the State of Iowa.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with the Patient Care Team to provide healthcare in a clinic setting.
• Prepares for exam/procedure and assists provider; facilitates patient rooming and intake and obtains vital signs.
• Documents patient care in the electronic health record; completes prior authorizations and referrals as needed.
• Performs point-of-care testing per CLIA guidelines; administers medications, immunizations, and treatments.
• Provides patient education appropriate to age and learning needs.
• Maintains instrument cleanliness and stock; supports infection control policies.
