Job summary

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school (or verifiable applicable work experience in a patient care setting).
• Maintains current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Certification.
• If hired after January 1, 2015, maintains current certification by one of the listed national bodies within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Accountable to the Nurse Manager/Practice Manager for operational issues.
• Gathers patient data through interviews and observation.
• Assist patients and families with preparation for examination.
• Assists the physician or APP during examination and procedures.
• Documents treatments and patient education according to policies.
• Enter medication, laboratory, and diagnostic imaging orders into the EMR under provider direction.
• Maintain compliance with all policies and infection control standards.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school

American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Certification

Certification within 6 months of hire (CCMA, CMA, CMAC, NCMA, NRCMA, NRCAMA, RMA)
