Corewell Health in Grand Rapids is seeking a Medical Assistant to support the gastroenterology HOPD team and deliver high-quality patient care in a busy outpatient setting.

Sign-on bonus of $3,000 is available for external applicants or CHW MA Apprentice students. The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and compassionate care within a 40-hour week, day shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program with hands-on clinical skills OR 1 year of direct patient care in MA scope of practice required.
• 1 year of relevant experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting preferred.
• BLS certification required within 90 days.
• CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA/NRCMA certifications required within 120 days.

Responsibilities

• As a Medical Assistant, work with the clinical team to ensure delivery of high-quality care.
• Support gastroenterology providers with patient care and clinical tasks in the outpatient clinic.

Practice Overview

The gastroenterology practice sees patients for acute and chronic situations. Patients of this clinic may be long term patients or be seen for consultations of a one-time situation. Many patients are referred to our space for evaluation of illnesses ranging from esophageal issues, pancreas and liver conditions to lower abdominal symptoms, Crohn's, Colitis, as well as Liver Diseases and Cancer.

Scope of work

As a Medical Assistant with Corewell Health, you'll be a member of our clinical support team and work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of the best possible care. You'll be a vital part of our team, making a real difference in the lives of our patients.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent Required
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program that includes hands-on, in-person clinical skills training OR a minimum of one (1) year of experience working specifically in the role of a Medical Assistant, LPN, Paramedic or EMT performing direct patient care and clinical support functions consistent with MA scope of practice Required
• 1 year of relevant experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting Preferred
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required within 90 Days
• One of the following Required within 120 Days
• AAMA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
• AMT Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
• NHA Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA)
• NCCT Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
• NAHP Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA)
