Job summary

Pain Physicians of Wisconsin is seeking a Medical Assistant for a full-time position in Kenosha,WI, with on-site responsibilities in ASC and Clinic. Responsibilities

  • Assists provider in seeing patients; gathers and records vital signs and medical histories, prepares patients for examination, draws blood, initiates toxicology screens, and administers medications as directed.
  • Records information in the EMR or paper chart and updates demographics, consents, and charges.
  • Completes paperwork including prescriptions, referrals, and scheduling diagnostics.
  • Participates in scheduling and communicates with scheduling department.
  • Obtains and documents vitals and discharge readiness scores; assists in patient discharge.
  • Assists in chart reviews for accuracy of patient documentation.
  • Keeps ASC orderly and follows cleaning protocols.
  • Acts as scribe for provider recording patient information as dictated.

PositionSummary

The purpose of this position is to provide direct patient care under general supervision of licensed personnel, maintaining and operating specialized equipment, and performing any other duties deemed necessary to insure optimal patient care and physician service. Medical experience required. On-the-job training provided.

  • Assists provider in seeing patients; gathers and records vital signs and medicalhistories,preparespatients forexamination,drawsblood,initiatestoxicologyscreens,and administersmedicationsasdirected.
  • Records information in electronic medicalrecords (EHR) database or paper chartand gathers all essentialcomponents from demographicsheets/consents/credit policies/charge slips, updates medication, and history.
  • Completes necessary paperwork as ordered by provider including printing prescriptions, work restrictions, referrals, and scheduling diagnostic testing.
  • Participates in the correct scheduling of patients, appropriate communication with the scheduling department.
  • Obtainsanddocumentsvitalsanddata regarding modified Aldrete and discharge readiness scores.Assistsindischargeofpatientwithappropriatepaperwork.
  • Assists in the performance ofchartreviewondailybasistoensurecompletenessandaccuracyofpatientdocumentation.
  • AssistsinkeepingASCorderlyandfollowsappropriatecleaningprotocols.
  • Actsasscribeforproviderrecordingpatientinformationasdictated,whenrequested.
  • Helps support Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement initiatives as a part of the team.
  • Facilitates communication to physician and health care provider regarding questions abouttreatmentprocedures,medications,diets, andphysicians'instructionsto patients.
  • Always participates and maintains safety and dignity of patient.
  • In addition, have demonstrated competency and routinely perform duties in at least one of the following:
    • Surgical: Applies and monitors principles of aseptic technique throughout intra-operative period. Assists provider by having all necessary equipment available and ready. Efficiently \"turns over\" rooms between patients following proper cleaning technique. Communicates all breaches of aseptic technique immediately to the provider and circulating nurse.
    • Effectively communicates with health care providers regarding patient questions and needs. Documents accurately in EHR, creates encounters as needed, properly updates, and utilizes medication module. Tasks and communicates with providers regarding triage needs.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Certified Medical Assistant certification prefered but will train the right candidate for this role..
  • Related experience preferred.

  • Current certification as Medical Assistant from an accredited certification agency preferred but willing to traing candidate with medical experience..
