Job summary

Providence Health & Services is seeking a Medical Assistant II to float among affiliated clinics in the Southern LA County area, including Santa Monica, Ladera Heights, Hawthorne, Manhattan Beach, and more. You will support licensed practitioners and perform MA I duties as assigned, across multiple sites.

Qualified candidates have graduated from an accredited MA program or completed MA apprenticeship, with at least 6 months healthcare and MA experience; BLS within 30 days of hire is required.

Qualifications

• Must have completed an approved medical assistant training path.
• One year MA experience preferred; BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
• 6 months healthcare and 6 months MA experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed practitioners and perform MA I level duties under supervision.
• Float across affiliated clinics in Southern LA County as directed.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, and safety regulations.

Job description

Medical Assistant - Float Southern LA County

Supports and floats throughout affiliated clinics in the Southern LA County vicinity such as Santa Monica, Ladera Heights, Hawthorne, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance, San Pedro, and Carson.

The Medical Assistant (MA) II works under the delegation of a licensed practitioner to perform duties as directed to assist in providing patient care to assigned patients. A MA II performs all aspects of the MA I role and is fully competent in the clinical needs/functions for assigned clinic/location of work. An MA II is expected to perform in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school that includes hands on training in a clinical setting for medical assistants OR
• Graduate of a registered medical assistant apprenticeship program OR
• Has completed two years of medical training in the United States Armed Forces OR
• Minimum one year of work experience as a medical assistant that includes the following clinical skills: obtaining vital signs, administering injections, and medication administration OR
• Within 30 days of hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
• 6 months Healthcare experience
• 6 months Medical Assistant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Upon hire: National Medical Assistant Certification.
