Job description

Medical Assistant Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Perform clinical procedures within scope of practice.
  2. Follow treatment plans as directed by the Clinical Coordinator, CRNP, and Physicians.
  3. Extract data from medical records and document as directed.
  4. Transcribe orders, reschedule charts, and schedule tests/procedures.
  5. Ensure patient comfort and satisfaction with services.
  6. Provide safe, appropriate, and quality patient care.
  7. Communicate new orders, changes in patient’s condition, and unit concerns with the team.
  8. Restock pharmacy and unit supplies as needed.
  9. Register patients and bill for services.
  10. Demonstrate competency in growth, development, and communication appropriate to patient age.
  11. Participate in QA/QI activities.
  12. Maintain professional development through in-services and continuing education.
  13. Assist in training new staff and coverage at other Community Health sites.
Physical and Sensory Requirements:

Sit up to 2 hours per day (up to 1 hour at a time). Stand for up to 10 hours daily. Walk for 6 hours daily (10 minutes at a time). Lift, carry, and push objects up to 10 lbs regularly; up to 75 lbs occasionally. Transport patients weighing up to 250 lbs via wheelchair, bed, or stretcher. Frequently stoop, bend, reach above shoulder level. Perceive attributes through touch. Hear in normal conversation and high/low frequencies. See general, near, far, color, and peripheral vision.

Education:

High school diploma or GED required. Graduate of an accredited MA program preferred.

Training and Experience:

Experience with medical terminology and prior work in a medical office preferred.
