Job summary

Oncology Consultants in Houston seeks a Float Medical Assistant to support physicians across locations. You will perform phlebotomy, lab testing, patient intake, vital signs, and assist with procedures in a fast-paced oncology setting.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, BLS, and at least one year of MA experience with venipuncture. Travel to other clinics <25% and EMR proficiency are expected.

Qualifications

• Education: High School or GED.
• Certifications: BLS required.
• Licensure: Valid driver’s license and vehicle for travel to other clinic locations as needed.
• One-year experience as a medical assistant in clinic or physician’s office with venipuncture ability.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians with medical procedures in office, including bone marrows, fine needle aspirate, paracentesis, and pelvic exams.
• Perform phlebotomy, laboratory testing, quality control, and instrument troubleshooting.
• Prepare slides, handle specimen processing, and send outside labs as dictated by insurance.
• Obtain vital signs, document in EMR, and prepare patient for physician.
• Maintain logs, inventory, and comply with safety and regulatory guidelines.
• Document all testing and treatment in medical records and assist with billing/encounter forms.
