About the Role

Henry Ford Health System's internal staffing resource pool is designed to ensure sufficient staffing across our health system. The department provides a proactive solution for unplanned or short-term staffing needs such as vacations, call-offs, leave of absences, or increases in census or acuity.

Medical Assistants will float to various Henry Ford clinics to provide coverage. The minimum commitment is 2 days per week, with opportunities to work up to a full schedule. Flexibility on location and clinic is required.

Hours are primarily Monday through Friday, with 8-hour shifts. Occasional weekend opportunities are available (optional) with a pay differential.

Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the provider and nursing leadership, performs a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to assist in delivering quality and compassionate patient care. Duties include greeting and escorting patients, taking medical histories, recording vital signs, preparing patients for examinations or procedures, and assisting physicians during examinations or procedures. Demonstrates clinical competence as a Medical Assistant.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with a minimum 160-hour clinical externship, or at least one year of verifiable clinical experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Alternatively, a graduate from a Medical Assistant program without externship but with at least one year of recent clinical medical assisting experience.
• Current Professional Medical Assistant Certification with at least five years of clinical experience.
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
• Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one year of clinical experience.
• Military-trained medical personnel with at least one year of recent clinical experience in a medical setting.

Additional requirements include basic computer skills and successful completion of the HFMG pharmacology class and test.

Certifications and Licensure

• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
