Job summary

Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare seeks a Medical Assistant to deliver hands-on clinical support and administrative duties across clinic settings, including phlebotomy and registration.

The role may require travel to other GVMH locations and may involve medical scribe duties after training and documentation requirements are met.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Pay Range $18.00 - $25.20 Schedule Information Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Work Shift: M-F, 8a-5p

Find Your Golden Opportunity at Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare At Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare (GVMH), our Medical Assistants are an important part of the care team, helping providers deliver timely, efficient and patient-centered care. This position combines hands-on clinical support with administrative responsibilities to help create a positive experience for patients and support efficient clinic operations.

The Medical Assistant works collaboratively with physicians, providers and other members of the healthcare team across a variety of clinic settings. This role requires flexibility and may provide support in primary care, specialty clinics, phlebotomy, registration and other areas based on patient care and staffing needs. Travel to other GVMH clinic locations may be required. The Medical Assistant may also function as a medical scribe, either independently or while performing patient care responsibilities, after completing required training and documentation requirements.

What You'll Do

• Provide clinical support to physicians and other healthcare providers during patient examinations, treatments, procedures and other patient care activities.
• Maintain accurate, complete and timely documentation in accordance with Rural Health Clinic (RHC), The Joint Commission (TJC), organizational and professional standards.
• Coordinate patient appointments, diagnostic testing, procedures and follow-up services to support continuity of care.
• Obtain and manage referrals, prior authorizations, consents and other documentation required for patient care and reimbursement.
• Communicate professionally and effectively with patients, families, providers, coworkers and internal and external customers.
• Identify and report communicable diseases and infection control concerns in accordance with established requirements.
• Maintain clean, organized and appropriately stocked exam rooms and work areas.
• Monitor medications, medical supplies and sample medications for proper storage and expiration.
• Maintain required compliance logs, records and documentation to support regulatory, accreditation and quality requirements.
• Provide cross-functional support in areas such as phlebotomy, registration, primary care and specialty clinics as needed.
• Function as a medical scribe when assigned after completing required training and applicable documentation requirements.
• Protect the confidentiality, privacy and security of patient information in accordance with HIPAA requirements and GVMH policies.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to maintain required competencies and certifications related to assigned Medical Assistant responsibilities, including applicable clinical, phlebotomy, registration and specialty clinic functions.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, organizational and regulatory requirements.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with providers, patients, families and team members.
• Ability to work effectively across multiple clinic settings and adapt to changing patient care and staffing needs.
• Ability and willingness to travel to GVMH clinic locations as needed.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to perform the physical activities necessary to support patient care and clinic operations, including standing, walking, bending and assisting with clinical activities throughout the workday. Must be able to safely use clinical equipment and perform assigned patient care responsibilities.

Education, Certifications & Licensure

Must maintain all education, training, competencies and certifications required for assigned Medical Assistant duties and areas of responsibility. Medical scribe responsibilities require completion of GVMH-required training and execution of the applicable scribe/provider agreement before performing scribe duties.
