Job summary

Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Technician to receive and process patient specimens and support timely testing.

The role includes accessioning, tracking, and distributing samples, performing basic lab tasks, and coordinating shipping to reference labs while ensuring specimen integrity.

Responsibilities

• Receive and process patient specimens to support timely laboratory testing.
• Accession, sort, track, and distribute laboratory samples per procedures and quality standards.
• Perform basic laboratory support functions including specimen preparation and testing as directed.
• Coordinate specimen packaging and shipping to reference laboratories while maintaining integrity.
• Maintain laboratory records, documentation, and tracking systems for compliance and efficiency.
• Support quality assurance by participating in proficiency testing and improvement initiatives.
• Perform phlebotomy procedures as assigned (venipuncture, fingerstick, heelstick).
• Manage inventory and supplies to ensure uninterrupted lab services.
• Maintain efficient workflows by prioritizing workload and assisting coworkers.
• Promote patient safety and laboratory quality through adherence to policies and standards.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40

Work Shift: M-F, 8:30a-5:30p, 9a-6p Sat, 8a-5p

What You’ll Do

• Receive and process patient specimens to support timely and accurate laboratory testing.
• Accession, sort, track, and distribute laboratory samples in accordance with established laboratory procedures and quality standards.
• Perform basic laboratory support functions, including specimen preparation and approved testing activities as directed.
• Coordinate specimen packaging and shipping activities for reference laboratories while maintaining specimen integrity and compliance with transport requirements.
• Maintain laboratory records, documentation, and tracking systems to support quality, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.
• Support quality assurance efforts by participating in proficiency testing, quality monitoring activities, and departmental improvement initiatives.
• Perform phlebotomy procedures as assigned, including venipuncture, fingerstick, and heelstick collections.
• Manage inventory and supplies by monitoring stock levels and helping ensure necessary materials are available to support uninterrupted laboratory services.
• Maintain efficient laboratory workflows by prioritizing workload, supporting coworkers, and assisting with operational needs.
• Promote patient safety, customer service, and laboratory quality through adherence to established policies, procedures, and professional standards.
