Job summary

New York Cancer and Blood Specialists is seeking a Medical Assistant Float to support patient intake, venipuncture, EKGs, and in-office procedures across NYCBS locations. The role requires precise EMR/LIS use and strong attention to detail.

The position supports multiple sites, with shift coverage Monday through Friday in a fast-paced outpatient setting; prior MA certification and BLS are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant Certification required.
• Proficiency with EMR/LIS systems (LABDAQ) preferred.
• Minimum 1 year outpatient care or lab experience preferred.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient intakes, recording vitals and history accurately.
• Perform venipuncture and specimen collection with proper labeling.
• Conduct ECGs and point-of-care tests under supervision.
• Prepare patients and exam rooms for visits and procedures.
• Assist providers during exams and in-office treatments.
• Sterilize and maintain equipment for infection control.
• Operate lab equipment and manage specimens (room temp, refrigerated, or frozen).
• Document lab results and orders in LIS/EMR; communicate with care team.
• Package specimens for external labs and ensure proper documentation.
