Job summary

Novant Health–GoHealth Urgent Care is seeking a Medical Assistant Float to support providers in delivering high‑quality urgent care services across multiple NC locations. You will assist with patient intake, clinical procedures, and front desk operations to ensure a safe and efficient patient flow.

The role requires MA program completion or equivalent, BLS, and relevant certifications; experience in a hospital, ED, or urgent care setting is valued.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduate of Medical Assisting program preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required at hire.
  • MA certifications: CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, NRCMA.
  • Alternative credentials accepted at hire (nursing, EMT, CNA).
  • Experience in front desk or patient registration is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Register patients and collect paperwork, insurance, and eligibility.
  • Process co-pays and schedule appointments.
  • Measure and record vital signs.
  • Perform point‑of‑care testing and communicate results.
  • Prepare and stock exam rooms, manage supplies.
  • Answer phones and maintain reception area.
  • Open/close duties and daily cash handling.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and policies.
