Job summary

American Family Care Phillipsburg is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide general medical care in an outpatient clinic. The role works with a franchised location and will involve vitals, history-taking, and assisting with exams and procedures.

The position emphasizes patient education, specimen collection, immunizations, and documentation, with opportunities for advancement and a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent with related experience.
• AMT registration and AAMA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam.
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients.
• Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments as per approved procedures.
• Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing or in-house processing.
• Perform lab tests, quality controls, and equipment maintenance per instructions.
• Respond to lab messages and callback requests.
• Perform drug screening procedures per rules and regulations.
• Document patient immunizations and ensure proper administration.
• Arrange physician referrals and service pre-certifications as needed.
• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments and supplies.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent

AMT registered

AAMA Certified Medical Assistants preferred
