Job summary

Fairfield Medical Center’s affiliated Fairfield Healthcare Professionals seeks a Medical Assistant to support exam preparation, injections, patient communications, and procedures. You will accurately record vital signs and assist with in-office testing, while maintaining sterile instruments and proper documentation in the EMR.

The role requires MA certification within 12 months of hire, or an active AAMA credential, with STNA preferred and phlebotomy certification advantageous.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• STNA certification preferred.
• MA certification must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
• AAMA certification current or eligible is preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification is preferred.
• Previous medical office experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for exams and assist with procedures.
• Administer medications within MA scope and document accordingly.
• Take vital signs and perform injections as directed.
• Assist with in-office testing and minor surgical procedures.
• Sterilize instruments and manage supplies.
• Input patient data into EMR using correct terminology.
• Handle referrals, pre-certifications, and prior authorizations.
• Monitor and order supplies and medications; maintain patient files.

Make a difference.Job Description:Under the direction of the office provider or licensed nurse of Fairfield Healthcare Professionals, the Medical Assistant will assist with preparing patients for exams, administering medications within the medical assistant scope of practice, assisting with procedures, and facilitating general communication with patients.Accurately takes vital signs and gives injections as directed.Performs all in-office testing as requested by provider.Assists with minor surgical procedures/wound care and dressing, and sterilization of instruments.Handles pharmacy-related requests/issues.Collects and inputs patient information into patients EMR using correct medical terminology.Completes referrals, pre-certifications, and prior-authorizations.Monitors and orders supplies and medications.Maintains patient files.Responsible for financial cost related to obtaining certification and renewing of certification.Responsible for obtaining and maintaining certification.Job Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required. STNA preferred.Medical Assistant certification required or obtained within 12 months of hire.Current AAMA certification or current AAMA exam eligibility.Phlebotomy certification preferred.Previous medical office experience preferred.Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly.
