Mercyhealth Cherry Valley - Rockford, IL is hiring a Medical Assistant to prepare patients for exams, assist with procedures, and keep patient records up to date in a Family Practice clinic.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, taking vital signs, scheduling appointments, coordinating referrals, and handling payments. Graduation from ABHES/CAAHEP accredited MA program and CPR/BLS certification within 90 days are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an ABHES- or CAAHEP-accredited medical assistant program or equivalent postsecondary program with regional or national accreditation.
• CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Clinical rotation experience during training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, collect assessment data and prepare for exams and procedures.
• Assist in examination, treatment, and other clinic procedures.
• Perform basic lab procedures and screening tests as needed.
• Answer calls, triage or direct to appropriate personnel, and schedule/enter appointments.
• Coordinate referrals through insurance and other offices; manage payments and receipts.
• Register and update patient records; maintain charts and order supplies.
