Job summary

The College of Health Care Professions (CHCP), in partnership with HCA Healthcare, seeks a Medical Assistant Externship Coordinator to oversee externship operations and ensure regulatory compliance for Medical Assistant students. You will build and maintain a network of externship sites and drive student readiness for employment.

Responsibilities include site visits, ensuring program adherence to standards, coordinating with Career Services, and guiding students through orientations, resume

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of practical experience in the medical field.
• CMA credential required; Phlebotomy Certification and PCT Certification required.
• CPR certification preferred; no prior teaching experience required; training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operational and compliance aspects of the externship program.
• Secure and manage externship sites for Medical Assistant students.
• Achieve and maintain a 40% extern-to-hire conversion rate across sites.
• Conduct regular site visits and maintain partner relationships.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation requirements including TWC regulations.
• Collaborate with Career Services and Placement teams to support student transitions.
• Provide guidance to students on attendance, professionalism, and performance.
• Conduct externship orientations and assist with resume writing and interview prep.
• Maintain documentation such as timecards, evaluations, and affiliation agreements.
• Track student progress and finalize evaluations and exit interviews.
• Promote the externship program through outreach within the medical community.
