Job summary

The College of Health Care Professions (CHCP) seeks a Medical Assistant Externship Coordinator to bridge education and practice for aspiring Medical Assistants. You will cultivate externship sites, ensure regulatory compliance, and support student success through mentoring and guidance.

Work with Career Services to assist transitions from externship to employment, oversee documentation, and promote the program within the medical community.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of practical experience in the medical field.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential required.
• Phlebotomy Certification and Patient Care Technician (PCT) Certification required.
• CPR certification preferred. No prior teaching experience required; training will be provided.
• Passion for mentoring students and supporting their professional development.

Responsibilities

• Secure and manage a network of externship sites for Medical Assistant students, ensuring a variety of placement opportunities.
• Achieve and maintain a minimum 40% extern-to-hire conversion rate across assigned sites.
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor student performance and maintain relationships with externship partners.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation requirements, including regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with Career Services and Placement teams to support student transition from externship to employment.
• Provide guidance to students regarding attendance, professionalism, and performance.
