CHCP is seeking a Medical Assistant Externship Coordinator to build and manage externship site networks and ensure quality hands-on experiences for students. The role drives compliance with program and regulatory standards while guiding students in professional conduct and placement preparation.

Responsibilities include site visits, documentation, and collaboration with Career Services to support student transitions from externship to employment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of practical experience in the medical field.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential required.
• Phlebotomy Certification and Patient Care Technician (PCT) Certification required.
• CPR certification preferred.
• No prior teaching experience required; training will be provided.
• Passion for mentoring students and supporting their professional development.

Responsibilities

• Secure and manage a network of externship sites for Medical Assistant students, ensuring a variety of placement opportunities.
• Achieve and maintain a minimum 40% extern-to-hire conversion rate across assigned sites.
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor student performance, address concerns, and maintain strong relationships with externship partners.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation requirements, including TWC regulations.
• Collaborate with Career Services and Placement teams to support students’ transition from externship to employment.
• Provide guidance to students regarding attendance, professionalism, and performance expectations during externships.
• Conduct externship orientations and assist students with resume writing and interview preparation.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including timecards, evaluations, and affiliation agreements.
• Track student progress throughout the externship and ensure completion of final evaluations and exit interviews.
• Promote the externship program through outreach and networking within the medical community.
