Job summary

Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA is seeking a Medical Assistant for the East Campus Neurosurgery clinic.

You will assist with patient care and handle administrative tasks such as coordinating patient flow, scheduling appointments, and taking phone messages. Under the supervision of a physician or APC, you will perform duties within the scope of Medical Assistant certification to support the multi-disciplinary team and ensure efficient clinic operations while

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must sit for CMA/RMA certification within 90 days of employment or have CMA/RMA active status.
  • BLS certification required or obtained within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with health care services and administrative tasks such as coordinating patient flow and scheduling appointments.
  • Provide care within the scope of Medical Assistant certification under supervision of a physician or APC.
  • Collaborate with the health care team to support clinic operations and patient care.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Medical Assistant / MA will be responsible for providing assistance with various health care services, and for assisting with administrative functions such as coordinating patient flow and scheduling appointments and taking phone messages. Under the direction of a Physician or APC, provides care within scope of Medical Assistant / MA Certification or Registration to patients referred to the clinic. The Medical Assistant / MA will function as a member of the health care team and is responsible for providing routine care under the supervision of a provider to meet patient and provider needs within the practice.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must meet current eligibility to sit for the exam with attainment of certification or registration through one of the Penn State Health-approved agencies for Medical Assistants within 90-days of employment date or current active status as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through one of the Penn State Health-approved agencies for Medical Assistant certification required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or must obtain BLS Certification within six (6) months of employment date.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program
