Job summary

Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) to support clinical teams and administrative tasks in a fast-paced clinic. Under supervision, you will assist with patient flow, appointment scheduling, and take phone messages while delivering routine care within the MA scope.

The role requires a high school diploma, CMA/RMA certification or eligibility, and BLS certification. Monday–Friday, day shift, full-time position with a generous benefits package.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Must meet eligibility to sit for CMA/RMA certification within 90 days or be active CMA/RMA.
• BLS certification required or obtain within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with health care services and clinical tasks under supervision.
• Coordinate patient flow, scheduling, and phone messages for the clinic.
• Provide routine care within the MA scope under physician/APC direction.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Medical Assistant / MA will be responsible for providing assistance with various health care services, and for assisting with administrative functions such as coordinating patient flow and scheduling appointments and taking phone messages. Under the direction of a Physician or APC, provides care within scope of Medical Assistant / MA Certification or Registration to patients referred to the clinic. The Medical Assistant / MA will function as a member of the health care team and is responsible for providing routine care under the supervision of a provider to meet patient and provider needs within the practice.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Must meet current eligibility to sit for the exam with attainment of certification or registration through one of the Penn State Health-approved agencies for Medical Assistants within 90-days of employment date or current active status as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through one of the Penn State Health-approved agencies for Medical Assistant certification required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or must obtain BLS Certification within six (6) months of employment date.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program
