Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support in an ambulatory care setting under supervision. Responsibilities include venipuncture, vaccination administration, vital signs, and assisting providers with exams while maintaining EMR documentation.

The role may float to other system sites to meet patient care needs. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, completion of an accredited MA program, and CMA/RMA

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Less than 1 year experience in an ambulatory care medical office or equivalent required.
• CMA-AAMA or RMA certification within 1 year and CPR within 90 days required.
• Ability to float to other sites within the system as needed.

Responsibilities

• Support patient exams and education of patients; provide clerical support as needed.
• Assist providers with patient preparation for examination and minor procedures.
• Contribute to patient flow and safety; participate in team huddles and performance improvement initiatives.
• Document activities accurately in the patient EMR and manage follow-up tasks.
• Provide telephone screening and triage under supervision and assist with care coordination.
