Responsibilities
Derm Tech I
Dermatology Technician provides supportive patient care functions for Dermatology and other assigned clinical areas, under the supervision of a Physician, Registered Nurse, or Licensed Vocational Nurse. Ensures the safety and comfort of patients and families according to legal, organizational, and professional standards. Duties may be delegated to the Dermatology Technician by the physician or RN. This position serves as the primary support for an assigned Dermatologist. Additional duties include demonstrating knowledge of medical terminology to assist in documentation during Dermatology office visits and procedures. The technician may be asked to scribe for physicians (history, physical, patient instructions, pending orders). They may also administer injectables and perform high-level skills such as phototherapy treatment/excimer laser treatment, setting up/assisting with procedures, sterile field management, cosmetic procedures, suture removal, Ipledge/isotretinoin patient education, registration in Ipledge, patch testing for allergic contact dermatitis, sterilizing instruments, and managing pathology logs to ensure results are received and communicated to patients.
Derm Tech II/III
Sr. Dermatology Technician provides advanced supportive patient care functions for Dermatology and other clinical areas, under supervision of a Physician, RN, or LVN. Serves as primary support for an assigned Dermatologist. Additional duties include demonstrating knowledge of medical terminology to assist in documentation, scribing for physicians, administering injectables, performing phototherapy and laser treatments, assisting with procedures, suture removal, patient education, patch testing, sterilization, and managing pathology logs.

Required: High School diploma or GED from an accredited program; Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program or school.
