Job summary

HAN Staff is seeking a Medical Assistant in Walla Walla, WA to support physicians and healthcare teams in a correctional setting. The role includes patient exams, vitals, history collection, and routine clinical tasks, with on-site shifts and a W2 compensation structure.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures.
• Document patient vital signs, medical histories, and other clinical information.
• Prepare patients for examinations, treatments, and diagnostic procedures.
• Perform basic clinical tasks such as specimen collection, injections, wound care, and medication administration as allowed by state regulations.
• Schedule appointments and maintain patient records; perform admin duties as needed.
• Educate patients on medications, treatments, and follow-up care instructions.
• Ensure exam rooms, equipment, and supplies are clean and stocked.
• Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation.
• Follow infection control practices, safety protocols, and facility policies.

Medical Assistant Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist physicians and healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures.

• Obtain and document patient vital signs, medical histories, and other clinical information.

• Prepare patients for examinations, treatments, and diagnostic procedures.

• Perform basic clinical tasks such as specimen collection, injections, wound care, and medication administration as permitted by state regulations.

• Schedule appointments, maintain patient records, and perform other administrative duties as needed.

• Educate patients on medications, treatments, and follow-up care instructions.

• Ensure examination rooms, equipment, and supplies are clean, organized, and properly stocked.

• Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation.

• Follow infection control practices, safety protocols, and facility policies.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current, valid, and unrestricted Washington license/certification in good standing, as required for the position.

• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience as a MA within the last 3 years.

• Copy of current, completed Primary Source Verification (PSV) from the appropriate licensing board or verification agency, if required.

• Copy of all current required certifications and compliance documents (e.g., BLS, N95 fit test, immunization records, TB test,...).
