Job summary

Corewell Health’s Community Medicine Clinic in Grand Rapids is seeking a Medical Assistant to join a dedicated clinical support team. You will assist with vital signs, patient preparation, and procedure support in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

We value adaptability, strong communication, and organizational skills. The position is full-time, on-site at Sheldon Center, with a day shift, 40 hours weekly, and a $3,000 sign-on bonus for eligible applicants.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of accredited Medical Assistant training program OR a minimum of one year in MA/LPN/Paramedic/EMT with direct patient care and clinical support functions.
• 1 year of relevant experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting preferred.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within 90 days.
• One of CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, NRCMA certifications required within 120 days.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care by taking vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, and assisting in procedures.
• Provide clinical support within MA scope and assist in office and clinic operations.
• Collaborate with RNs, PSRs, and other staff to ensure smooth operation and high-quality care.

Practice Overview

The Community Medicine Clinic is in the heart of downtown and we serve the community, we have dedicated Physicians and APP's that are committed to providing comprehensive care for our patients. We are a safe and affirming clinic, we take immense pride in the strong relationships we build with our patients, their families, and our colleagues, fostering a supportive and compassionate environment. We have so many resources in the building for patients, pharmacist, community health workers, population health nurse, RN case managers, nurse triage, physical therapy, and behavior health services. We also have a food and clothing pantry for our patients that have any social determinate needs that keep them from focusing on their health. We offer lab services to our established patients at the clinic.

Our support staff is composed of registered nurses (RNs), medical assistants/ambulatory clinical technicians (MA/ACTs), ambulatory clinical clerical technicians (ACCTs), and patient service representatives (PSRs). Each member of our team plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our practice and the delivery of high-quality care.

MAs assist with patient care, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, and assisting in procedures. Candidates for this position should be adaptable, detail-oriented, and possess strong organizational and communication skills. They play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the office and providing high-quality patient care.

Scope of work

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent Required
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program that includes hands-on, in-person clinical skills training OR a minimum of one (1) year of experience working specifically in the role of a Medical Assistant, LPN, Paramedic or EMT performing direct patient care and clinical support functions consistent with MA scope of practice Required
• 1 year of relevant experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting Preferred
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required within 90 Days
• One of the following Required within 120 Days
• AAMA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
• AMT Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
