Job summary

CLS Health in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join a multispecialty practice. You will support providers by rooming patients, taking histories and vitals, and preparing charts and test results.

Ideal candidates have CMA/RMA certification, 2+ years' experience in a medical office or customer service, strong communication, attention to detail, and proficiency with Microsoft Office; knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing is a plus.

Qualifications

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with national accreditation.
• Two years+ of experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Room the patient and interview/update chief complaint, medical history and vitals.
• Prepare patient charts a week in advance and verify benefits reports.
• Ensure rooms are stocked and clean before/after clinic and end of day.
• Refill medications as directed and obtain necessary pre-authorization.
• Assist physician in exam room with wound care or procedures.
• Follow up on calls and document interactions in the log.
• Educate patient about DI, labs, referrals and procedures.
• Schedule upcoming appointments after physician sees the patient.

We Are Looking For
Someone who is an experienced Medical Assistant for a multispecialty medical practice. The medical assistant should perform a supportive role in delivering comprehensive care to the patient that is safe, effective, and efficient.

Responsibilities

• Rooming the patient
• Interview/update patient's chief complaint, medical history, medication list, and take vitals.
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance and verifies benefits reports.
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance.
• Scanning documents to appropriate patient charts.
• Makes sure all rooms are stocked and clean before clinic, after each patient, and at the end of the day.
• Refill patient medications as directed by a physician and obtain Pre-Authorization/Determination for medications.
• Ensures that physician is in-network and authorized/up-to-date referral is in the patient's chart.
• Assist the physician in the exam room with any wound care and/or procedures.
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document phone log/conversation
• Educates and informs the patient of any DI, labs, referrals, and procedures physicians might have ordered.
• Schedules patients for upcoming appointments after the physician sees the patient.
• Obtains authorization prior to sending any orders when needed.
• Main fax line- Distribute faxes to appropriate team member(s)
• Performs related duties as required.

Requirements
