Description

Position: Medical Assistant

Reports To: Practice Manager

Job Summary: Coordinates patient care with physicians, assists with assessments, administers medications as per physician orders, and supports administrative duties to enhance patient care.

Clinical Support
  • Greets patients, escorts them to exam rooms, prepares them for exams or treatments, and records vital signs.
  • Assists physicians as needed.
  • Performs spirometry and other breathing tests as ordered.
  • Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment, including sterilization.
  • Provides patient education when appropriate.
  • Documents patient information accurately in medical records.
  • Calls in prescriptions as ordered by physicians or nurse practitioners.
  • Performs allergy prick and intradermal testing as ordered.
  • Administers allergy injections according to physician-approved schedules.
  • Monitors patients for adverse reactions post-injection.
  • Maintains emergency equipment such as oxygen, suction devices, and code kits.
  • Handles patient-related calls following clinical protocols.
  • Follows up on referrals and insurance authorizations as needed.
  • Maintains clinical supplies and medication samples.
Other Responsibilities
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with HIPAA and practice policies.
  • Utilizes practice management and related software effectively.
  • Attends required CPR, OSHA, HIPAA, and OIG training sessions.
  • Participates in regular meetings.
  • Performs additional tasks assigned by the manager.
  • Completes all required training within specified timeframes.
  • Adheres to Allergy Partners and department policies, reporting violations appropriately.
Qualifications

Educational Requirements:

  • High school diploma required.
  • CMA certification preferred.

Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of one year clinical assisting experience.
  • Proficient in email and internet applications.
  • Knowledge of practice management and word processing software.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Neat, professional appearance.
