Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical operations at BIDMC. You will perform vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, and assist during routine procedures while maintaining clean, stocked patient areas and coordinating with radiology and lab teams.

In this role, you will use the EMR to queue prescriptions, document visits, and assist in scheduling. The position involves patient check-in, greeting, and ongoing care coordination with licensed providers.

Qualifications

• 0-1 years related work experience required.
• Medical assisting experience in MA, CNA/LNA, EMT, PCT certificate, or associates degree in Medical Assisting.
• Current or former nursing or medical student who has completed at least one clinical rotation.
• Successful completion of BIDMC in-house competency program in 2019.
• Basic familiarity with computers and ability to navigate web-based applications.

Responsibilities

• Performs medical assisting duties: vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, and assisting during routine procedures.
• Ensures patient care areas are clean, organized, stocked, and ready for patient use.
• Escorts patients to radiology and lab as needed and facilitates timely flow.
• Performs point-of-care testing and ensures proper testing equipment functioning.
• Documents tasks in the EMR and queues prescription renewals for review by providers.
• Prepares schedules, patient charts, and other documents for clinical activities.
• Monitors waiting room and assists with scheduling and patient communication.
