Job summary

Mercyhealth in Wisconsin is seeking a Medical Assistant to room patients, collect assessment data, and prepare patients for examinations, treatments, and clinic procedures. This role supports clerical tasks, patient registration, and coordination of referrals in a fast-paced care environment.

It also involves assisting with laboratory procedures and screening tests, performing QI activities, and handling payments and chart maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program per ABHES/CAAHEP or equivalent.
  • CPR/BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • Clinical rotation experience preferred.
  • Must be able to follow written/oral instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Rooms patients, collects assessment data and prepares patients for examinations and procedures.
  • Assists in examination, treatment and clinic procedures.
  • Assists with laboratory procedures, screening tests and quality improvement projects.
  • Answers telephones, directs callers or triages as needed; schedules appointments and enters them into the scheduler; makes reminder calls.
  • Registers patients, verifies records and coordinates referrals with insurers and physician offices.
  • Collects payments, issues receipts, maintains patient charts and orders supplies.

This job requires the employee to exert 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and 25 to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
