Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Medical Assistant in Chicago to support physicians, nurses and other clinical staff. You will help manage patient flow, prepare exam rooms, take vital signs, and assist with procedures such as ECGs and venipuncture, while maintaining patient comfort and confidentiality.

The role emphasizes accurate documentation in the electronic medical record, teamwork, and adherence to safety and infection control standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Current certification in one of the five eligible exams or eligibility to write one within six months.
• American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification.
• Zero to two years’ experience in a relevant role.
• Strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure efficient patient flow; escort to exam room; obtain vitals; document visit and update allergies and meds.
• Assist practitioner with ECG, venipuncture, immunizations and setting up procedure trays.
• Prepare and stock exam rooms; maintain inventory; disinfect and sterilize equipment.
• Interact professionally with patients and care team; support efficient clinic operations.
