Job summary

St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia seeks a Medical Assistant to support pediatric patients. Under RN supervision, you will perform triage, collect vitals, assist clinicians during exams, and help update patient records.

You will also handle routine clerical duties to keep the office running smoothly. You will contribute to a welcoming patient flow, assist at the front desk, and support the Practice Manager with general tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Pediatrics experience required or preferred.
  • 1+ year of relevant medical assistant experience.
  • BLS certification and MA certification from recognized bodies as listed in policy.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Medical Assistant administers and performs triage and direct care to assigned patients under the direction and supervision of the RN/Nurse Manager. This includes functions such as height/weight and vital signs, updating medical records, as well as assisting the clinicians with exams as requested. Also ensures a smooth flow of patients through the office by providing efficient basic care to patients. The Medical Assistant performs routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the office running smoothly. The Medical Assistant also performs secretarial support for the office, assist the front desk operations in performing general clerical tasks, such as checking patients in and out, filing, copying, answering the phone, and related duties as requested by the Practice Manager.

Schedule

Shifts worked will be Mon - Fri: 8a - 4:30p, 9a - 5:30p or 10a - 6:30p. Flexibility will be needed for this schedule depending on the needs of the Practice and the schedule will be provided in advance.

Education Requirements
  • Completes and maintains all competencies and trainings as required for role.
  • High School Diploma - OR - GED - OR - Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program
Experience
  • Pediatrics experience
  • 1+ year of experience
Certification and Licensure
  • BLS Certification
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification awarded through American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), the American Medical Technologists (AMT), the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), National Association of Healthcare Professionals (NAHP) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA). Medical Assistant Certification other than those listed requires THMG Leadership Approval.
