Job Title: Medical Assistant

Job Summary
Provides assistance with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a registered nurse or provider (physician or advanced practice provider).
Primary Responsibilities
- Assists with treatments ordered by provider as supervised by provider or registered nurse. Performs select clinical duties.
- Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patients' charts. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
- Performs basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, scheduling patients, and filing.
- Performs basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies. Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
- May document the provider's encounter with patients, listing diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions as indicated. Transcribes patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.
- For Wisconsin: High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience, and graduation from an accredited school of medical assisting or education equivalency for certification.

- Constant standing and walking.
- Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information.
- Frequent hearing to distinguish body sounds and alarms.
- Frequent lifting/carrying objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
- Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry.
- Frequent use of vision for distances near and far, and to distinguish colors.
- Occasional bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, sitting, squatting, and repetitive movements.
- Occasional lifting/moving patients and objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Occasional use of smell to detect odors.
- Occasional driving.
Licenses and Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association.
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - NHA, or
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - AAMA, or
- Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) - AMCA, or
- Medical Assistant (RMA) - AAH, or
- Medical Assistant Certification (MAC) - AMCA, or
- National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) - NCCT, or
- Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) - NAHP, or
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - AAMP or AMT, or
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - ARMA.
