Job Title: Medical Assistant

Location: Oklahoma City, OK

Job Summary

Provides assistance with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a registered nurse or provider (physician or advanced practice provider).

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Assists with treatments ordered by provider as supervised by provider or registered nurse. Performs select clinical duties.
  2. Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patients' charts. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
  3. Performs basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, scheduling patients, and filing.
  4. Performs basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies. Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
  5. May document the provider's encounter with patients, listing diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions as indicated. Transcribes patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.
  6. Works in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.
  • For Wisconsin: High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience, and graduation from an accredited school of medical assisting or education equivalency for certification.
Experience
  • No experience required.
Physical Requirements
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information.
  • Frequent hearing to distinguish body sounds and alarms.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Frequent use of vision for distances near and far, and to distinguish colors.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, sitting, squatting, and repetitive movements.
  • Occasional lifting/moving patients and objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional use of smell to detect odors.
  • Occasional driving.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association.
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - NHA, or
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - AAMA, or
  • Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) - AMCA, or
  • Medical Assistant (RMA) - AAH, or
  • Medical Assistant Certification (MAC) - AMCA, or
  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) - NCCT, or
  • Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) - NAHP, or
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - AAMP or AMT, or
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - ARMA.
