Job description

Responsibilities

This clinic is located at our downtown Seattle location, specializing in Cardiology.

The Medical Assistant assists the physician with clinical duties, including taking patient histories, administering injections, assisting in examinations and procedures, and performing laboratory and radiological examinations.

  1. Coordinates and schedules services for patients and providers, maintains provider’s daily schedules, and communicates changes.
  2. Prepares charts with all necessary paperwork, coordinates pre-authorizations, and requests/submits referrals.
  3. Maintains filing of test results and updates insurance information.
  4. Manages information such as filing, pharmacy refill lines, release/receipt of records, x-rays, referrals, pre-authorizations, and performs quality checks on charge slips.
  5. Provides patients with preoperative and postoperative information.
  6. Acts as the primary contact for patients, answering telephones, scheduling appointments, and reminding patients of upcoming visits.
  7. Explains logistics related to appointments, keeps patients informed of delays, and routes calls per guidelines.
  8. Performs telephone and in-person screening.
  9. Manages office supplies, coordinates durable medical equipment delivery/return, and maintains stock and educational materials.
  10. Facilitates patient flow and rooming, including taking medical histories, vital signs, and obtaining lab results.
  11. Prepares patients for exams and procedures, including obtaining vital signs and explaining tests.
  12. Observes and records symptoms, instructs on specimen collection, and performs specimen collection and capillary draws.
  13. Screens and follows up on test results, maintains medication and immunization records, and administers eye drops, vaccines, and waived tests.
  14. Additional responsibilities include venipuncture, injections, respiratory tests, medication administration, and sterile procedures.
Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.

Graduation from an accredited medical assisting program or validation of equivalent military training (e.g., Hospital Corpsman).

Washington State Department of Health Medical Assistant - Certified (CM) or Interim (IC) credential required.

Minimum 6 months of customer service experience required.

1+ year of MA-C experience preferred.

Knowledge of third-party payer requirements required.

Strong attention to detail, ability to work independently, and excellent organizational, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills required. Proficiency in using a PC is necessary.
