Job summary

Ohio State University Physicians seeks a Medical Assistant to support direct patient care in our outpatient setting. You will room patients, collect vitals, interview patients, prepare examinations, and assist with procedures under physician supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and one of the listed qualifications.
• Minimum of 1 year of medical assisting experience.
• Military Medic training, EMT-P, or equivalent mix of education/experience.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, measure and record vital signs, such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration.
• Complete patient interview and history.
• Prepare patients for examinations, tests and treatments and explain procedures. Assists with procedures as ordered by physician.
• May assist in examinations, carry out treatments and special tests.
• Set up equipment and prepare medical treatment rooms for patients.
• Collect samples such as blood, urine and sputum from patients, and perform routine laboratory tests on samples.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Medical Assistant Program Diploma

Minimum of 1 year of medical assisting experience

Military Medic training

EMT-P (Paramedic) training

Equivalent of 1 year combined relevant medical assisting experience and education
