Job summary

Unitek Learning seeks an experienced Medical Assistant to serve as Career & Externship Coordinator, bridging classroom learning with externship placements and employment opportunities. This hybrid role combines career services and employer outreach to Reno-area healthcare partners while supporting students and graduates through coaching and placement processes.

The position requires 3+ years MA experience, completion of a MA program, and strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• At least three years of hands-on Medical Assisting experience.
• Completion of a Medical Assisting program.
• Strong communication, organization, relationship-building, and follow-through skills.
• Ability to travel locally.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and business technology.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate externship placements for Medical Assisting students.
• Prepare students for externship and communicate expectations for attendance, performance, and professionalism.
• Monitor student progress, required hours, evaluations, and documentation.
• Coach students and graduates in resume development, interviewing, job-search strategies, and professional communication.
• Connect qualified graduates with job opportunities and support them through the hiring process.
• Build relationships with clinics, medical practices, hospitals, and other healthcare employers.
• Develop new externship sites and hiring opportunities through proactive outreach and networking.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and accreditation-ready student and employer records.
