Job summary

Quincy Medical Group is seeking a Medical Assistant in Cardiology to work with providers and the clinical team, caring for patients with cardiovascular needs. This fast-paced specialty role balances hands-on clinical tasks with patient communication and follow-up, supporting a coordinated patient experience.

The position is full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with occasional outreach travel. A strong team environment and patient-centered care are emphasized.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Medical Assistant education or experience preferred.
• CPR/BLS certification required.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for visits by obtaining vital signs and medical history.
• Assist providers with examinations, treatments, testing, and in-office procedures.
• Perform clinical tasks such as EKGs, injections, and medication administration.
• Respond to patient messages, gather clinical information, and communicate with the team.
• Support referrals, testing, and follow-up care as directed.
• Educate patients on testing, medications, and next steps.
• Document patient care accurately in the EMR.
• Prepare exam rooms and maintain supplies and equipment.
• Collaborate with the Cardiology team to ensure efficient patient flow.

About The Role

As a Medical Assistant in Cardiology at Quincy Medical Group, you will work alongside providers and the clinical team to care for patients with a variety of cardiovascular needs. You will support both routine and specialty care while helping ensure patients receive a coordinated, efficient, and positive experience.

This role is a great fit for a Medical Assistant who enjoys a fast-paced specialty environment, building relationships with patients, and balancing hands-on clinical care with communication and follow-up.

Schedule & Work Environment

• Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
• Occasional outreach travel may be required.

Primary Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for visits by obtaining vital signs, reviewing medications and medical history, and documenting relevant information in the electronic medical record.
• Assist providers with examinations, treatments, diagnostic testing, and in-office procedures within scope of practice.
• Perform clinical tasks such as EKGs, medication administration, injections, and other procedures as trained and directed.
• Respond to patient messages and phone calls, gather appropriate clinical information, and communicate concerns to the provider or nursing team.
• Support medication refill requests, prior authorizations, referrals, testing, and follow-up care as directed.
• Provide patients with instructions and education related to testing, medications, procedures, and next steps within scope of practice.
• Accurately document patient care and maintain complete, timely information within the electronic medical record.
• Prepare exam rooms, maintain clinical supplies, and ensure equipment and work areas are ready for patient care.
• Collaborate with providers and other members of the Cardiology team to support efficient patient flow and coordinated care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Medical Assistant education or previous clinical experience preferred.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• Current CPR/BLS certification required.
• Previous Cardiology, specialty clinic, or ambulatory healthcare experience preferred but not required.
• Strong communication, organization, and patient care skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Comfort using electronic medical records and learning specialty-specific workflows.
• Ability to travel to QMG outreach locations as required.

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $16.12 - $24.18 per hour, with actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through bonuses and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
