Job summary

Community Health Network seeks a Medical Assistant to support outpatient visits, assist providers, and help ensure efficient patient flow in our ambulatory care setting.

You will participate in routine laboratory testing, referrals, and quality initiatives while maintaining accurate documentation in the EPIC EMR and facilitating a positive patient experience across the care team.

Qualifications

• Graduate or certificate of completion from a recognized medical assisting program.
• Medical Assistant certification required within 6 months of hire
• Prepare exam rooms and stock supplies
• Room patients and manage an efficient flow of provider’s caseload
• Obtain necessary vital signs, EKGs, and/or specimen collection
• Documentation of care using the EPIC EMR system
• Process referrals and medication refills
• Maintain positive relationships with patients, providers, and staff

Responsibilities

• Assist the provider of an ambulatory health care site with facilitation of patient visit and procedures.
• Participate in network quality initiatives regarding best practices.
• Support routine laboratory tests and referrals as part of patient care.
• Coordinate exam room preparation and equipment readiness.
• Document care and test results accurately in EPIC EMR.
• Ensure timely flow of patients through the clinic.
• Maintain clean and stocked treatment areas and supplies.

Make a Difference

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for assisting the provider of an ambulatory health care site with facilitation of patient visit and procedures, routine laboratory tests, referrals, and quality outcomes for the population of the practice. As an MA, you will also get to actively participate in Network quality initiatives regarding best practices.

Exceptional Skills And Qualifications

Applicants for this position should be able to collaborate with others in a team setting, have excellent communication skills, and a positive attitude toward problem-solving.

• Graduate/certificate of completion from a recognized medical assisting program OR a High School Diploma/GED + one year of medical assistant experience in a physician practice within the past three years.
• Medical Assistant certification required within 6 months of hire
• Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas for patient use including required cleaning and stocking of supplies
• Room patients and manage an efficient flow of provider’s caseload
• Obtain necessary vital signs, EKGs, and/or specimen collection
• Documentation of care using the EPIC EMR system
• Perform Point of Care Testing based on patient’s chief complaint and available protocols
• Process referrals and medication refills
• Maintain positive relationships with patients, providers, and staff
