Job summary

Community Health Network is seeking a Medical Assistant for an ambulatory health care site in Indianapolis. The MA will facilitate patient visits, assist providers with procedures, and help with routine labs and referrals.

Responsibilities include room preparation, vital signs, EKGs, and specimen collection, with documentation in EPIC EMR and potential flex to other offices to meet 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a medical assisting program or have a HS diploma/GED plus one year MA experience in a physician practice in the last three years.
• Certification as Medical Assistant required within 6 months of hire.
• Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas, including cleaning and stocking supplies.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and manage provider flow.

Make a Difference The Medical Assistant will be responsible for assisting the provider of an ambulatory health care site with facilitation of patient visit and procedures, routine laboratory tests, referrals, and quality outcomes for the population of the practice. As an MA, you will also get to actively participate in Network quality initiatives regarding best practices.

• Graduate/certificate of completion from a recognized medical assisting program OR a High School Diploma/GED + one year of medical assistant experience in a physician practice within the past three years.
• Medical Assistant certification required within 6 months of hire
• Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas for patient use including required cleaning and stocking of supplies
• Room patients and manage an efficient flow of provider’s caseload
• Obtain necessary vital signs, EKGs, and/or specimen collection
• Documentation of care using the EPIC EMR system
• Perform Point of Care Testing based on patient’s chief complaint and available protocols
• Process referrals and medication refills
• Maintain positive relationships with patients, providers, and staff

During low census may require flexibility with schedule and/or float to other offices to meet FTE of 40 hours per week.
