Job summary

New York Health (NYH) is seeking a Medical Assistant for our Urology practice in Washington Heights, NY. This role supports patient intake, specimen collection, vital signs, and exam preparation in a fast-paced clinic.

The position requires a Medical Assistant Certificate and a High School Diploma, with English/Spanish bilingual abilities and EMR experience preferred. Lifting up to 50 pounds and travel to Brooklyn/Staten Island locations may be needed.

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant Certificate and a High School Diploma are required.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.
• Proficiency with an EMR system is preferred.
• Must be able to sit at a desk and use a computer for long periods.
• Knowledge of standard precautions and PPE for handling pathogens.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient intakes, ensuring accurate information recording.
• Collect and process lab specimens, including venipuncture and diagnostic tests.
• Record patients' vital signs.
• Prepare patients for examinations.
• Sterilize medical equipment and instruments.
• Assist providers and other staff in data entry.
• Assist physicians during visits with exams and procedures.
• Perform EKGs and point-of-care testing.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Medical Assistant (Urology Practice)

Location: Washington Heights, NY

Hours/Days: 5 8.5 Hour Shifts; Monday - Friday (7:30a-6:30p)

Organization: New York Health (NYH) - Urology

In This Role, You Will

• Manage patient intakes, ensuring accurate information recording.
• Collect and process lab specimens, including venipuncture and diagnostic tests.
• Record patients' vital signs.
• Prepare patients for examinations.
• Sterilize medical equipment and instruments.
• Assist providers and other support staff in the data entry process.
• Assist physicians during visits with examinations and all office procedures.
• Perform EKGs and point-of-care testing.
• Other duties as assigned.

We Require

• A Medical Assistant Certificate and a High School Diploma
• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Proficiency with an EMR system (Preferred)
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, standing, bending and reaching
• Knowledge of standard precautions and the ability to utilize appropriate PPE when handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Reliable transportation to travel to NYH locations for patient care needs
• Must be able to float to our Brooklyn and Staten island urology locations
