Job summary

eFC is seeking a compassionate Medical Assistant to join our behavioral health residential facility in Tennessee. The role provides clinical and administrative support to ensure residents receive respectful, safe, and person-centered care.

Responsibilities include documenting vital signs, coordinating appointments, maintaining medical records, ensuring HIPAA compliance, and collaborating with nurses and the interdisciplinary team to support resident wellness.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Current Medical Assistant certification or registration preferred.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
  • Experience in behavioral health, mental health, developmental disabilities, long-term care, or healthcare setting is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.

  • Obtain and document vital signs, weights, and other basic health information.
  • Assist with scheduling medical appointments, laboratory services, and follow-up care.
  • Maintain accurate resident health records and medical documentation.
  • Communicate changes in a resident’s condition to the appropriate nurse or healthcare provider.
  • Assist with medication records, medication coordination, and related documentation within scope of practice.
  • Coordinate with pharmacies, medical providers, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Track physician orders, laboratory results, referrals, and upcoming appointments.
  • Help maintain medical supplies and organized treatment areas.
  • Protect resident privacy and follow HIPAA and confidentiality requirements.
  • Follow infection-control, safety, and emergency procedures.
  • Treat residents with patience, dignity, compassion, and respect.
  • Perform additional duties to support resident care and facility operations.

Medical Assistant – Behavioral Health

We are seeking a compassionate, dependable Medical Assistant to join the team at one of our residential behavioral health facilities. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys helping others, works well as part of a team, and is comfortable supporting individuals with mental health and developmental needs.

The Medical Assistant will provide clinical and administrative support while helping ensure that each resident receives respectful, safe, and person-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Obtain and document vital signs, weights, and other basic health information

  • Assist with scheduling medical appointments, laboratory services, and follow-up care

  • Maintain accurate resident health records and medical documentation

  • Communicate changes in a resident’s condition to the appropriate nurse or healthcare provider

  • Assist with medication records, medication coordination, and related documentation within the employee’s training and permitted scope of practice

  • Coordinate with pharmacies, medical providers, families, and members of the interdisciplinary team

  • Track physician orders, laboratory results, referrals, and upcoming appointments

  • Help maintain adequate medical supplies and organized treatment areas

  • Protect resident privacy and follow all HIPAA and confidentiality requirements

  • Follow infection-control, safety, and emergency procedures

  • Treat every resident with patience, dignity, compassion, and respect

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support resident care and facility operations

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred

  • Current Medical Assistant certification or registration preferred

  • Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred

  • Previous experience in behavioral health, mental health, developmental disabilities, long-term care, or another healthcare setting is a plus

  • Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills

  • Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations

  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn electronic documentation systems

  • Must be dependable, compassionate, and able to work effectively with residents, families, providers, and coworkers

  • Must meet all applicable background-check, health-screening, and employment requirements
