Job summary

UPMC’s Orthopedic Surgery Department seeks a Part-Time Medical Assistant for the Evening Walk-In Clinic at the Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry, PA. The role supports back office and front office duties with a schedule Monday through Friday, 4:30pm–9pm, no weekends or holidays.

Applicants with Medical Assistant experience are preferred; training will align you within the Medical Assistant Career Ladder based on experience and education, with opportunities to grow in patient care,

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant experience preferred
• Back office and front office duties experience beneficial
• Ability to manage patient flow and medical records

Responsibilities

• Send/receive patient records in accordance with HIPAA and regulations.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes and referral information; schedule appointments and verify insurance.
• Prepare patient rooms and set up instruments; maintain infection control and restock supplies.
• Check schedules, accompany patients to exam rooms, assist with walking, transfers and specimen collection.
• Answer calls and provide patient education as directed.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs and level one labs; assist physicians with procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with regulatory policies and organizational procedures.
